Citely — Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Citely (“we”, “the app”) helps Shopify merchants measure and improve how AI assistants (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini) find and recommend their store. This policy explains what data we access, how we use it, and your rights.
Data we access and store
- Store details: your store’s domain and public catalog (product and collection titles, descriptions and URLs). We read these to generate your AI file and to run visibility checks.
- Visibility reports: the results of your AI visibility checks (scores, competitor brand names surfaced by AI, and which engines mention your store). These are stored so you can see history and trends. They are always tied to your store only.
Data we do NOT collect
Citely does not collect, store or process your customers’ personal data. We do not access orders, customer records, or personally identifiable information.
Third-party services
To provide the service, limited data is shared with:
- AI engines (OpenAI, Perplexity, Google Gemini): we send category buying queries (e.g. “best running shoes”) to measure whether your store is recommended. No customer data is sent.
- Supabase: stores your visibility reports.
- Shopify: provides the app platform and your store data via official APIs.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your visibility reports while the app is installed. When you uninstall Citely, or on a Shopify data-erasure request, all of your store’s data is deleted from our systems (handled automatically via Shopify’s compliance webhooks).
Security
Data is stored with an established cloud provider (Supabase) and transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access is restricted to the app’s server.
